The top speed of 164 mph is believed to be the highest recorded by a speeder in Oregon.
“An American motorcyclist has been arrested after he filmed himself doing a fairly spectacular 164mph on Interstate 5, just north of Eugene in Oregon.
Ben Howard Kelly had attached a video camera to his handlebars with the speedo in shot and was unfortunate enough to tear past an off duty traffic cop. Jeff Leighty, president of the Oregon State Police Officers’ Association, who spotted the speeding bike, told The Oregonian newspaper “He actually disappeared from site [after he’d gone past] he was going so fast”.
Leighty wasn’t in a patrol car so didn’t pursue, but waited until traffic slowed down to get his number plate and alerted his dispatch, who arrested Kelly further down the road.”
